Eels are an American Indie-Rock band and their music is used regularly in films, an example being "I need some sleep" which came famous from the animated blockbuster, Shrek. The majority of their songs focus on the singer's generic voice and are usually quite quirky-giving us the inspiration to go down a more conceptual route. However, unlike 'Baby Loves Me', songs such as 'I Need Some Sleep' and 'Mr E's Beautiful Blues'
It is clear that there is a difference in the type of music between these particular songs and 'Baby Loves Me' and that is the fact that the band has experimented with technology more in 'Baby Loves Me'. However, a recurring theme within all of the Eels music is that they continue to make sure their lyrics are meaningful and that they discuss topics that can be identified with the target audience such as loss, love and deceit.
